
Praslin -
the second largest island of the Seychelles archipelago, located in the Indian Ocean. It is famous for its white beaches, crystal clear water, rare plants and cozy atmosphere.
A Brief History of Praslin:
- Before colonization, the island remained uninhabited for a long time. There were no natives of the Seychelles, so the islands were largely “primitive”.
- 18 th century — first described by Europeans (French), named after the French diplomat César Gabriel de Choiseul, Duke of Praslin.
- 19th century — under the control of France, and then Great Britain (as part of the struggle for control of the Indian Ocean).
- 1976 — Seychelles gained independence from Great Britainии.
- Today Praslin is an important tourist centre of the Seychelles, with rich natural environment but without excessive development.
Valley of Mai
- UNESCO reserve with relict palms Coco de Mer, which grow only in Seychelles.
- A legendary place that was considered the prototype of the Garden of Eden.
- Hiking trails, rare bird species (including the black parrot, the symbol of Seychelles)
Anse Lazio Beach
- One of the best beaches in the world according to National Geographic and TripAdvisor.
- White sand, granite boulders, azure water, great place for snorkeling.
Anse Georgette Beach
- More secluded, accessible through the Constance Lemuria Hotel (advance access required).
- Protected, incredibly picturesque and photogenic.
Local villages and crafts
- Visit Grand Anse or Baie Sainte Anne to see local life, shops, markets and try Creole cuisine.
