Captain Mikhail Tekuchev

Born into a family of yachtsmen, he began sailing at the same time as his first steps in life.

Participated in the Thousand Islands Regatta annually from 2011 to 2021.

He has participated in sailing competitions in Russia on numerous occasions: the 2005 Arctic Voyage (Barents Sea), the Solovetsky Regatta (White Sea), and regattas on the Baltic, Volga, and in the Moscow region. On a 7-meter yacht, he sailed through locks, canals, and inland waterways from Moscow to the Solovetsky Islands and back three times (2002, 2003, 2004)

Biography

Born on November 12, 1979 in a family of yachtsmen in the city of Dolgoprudny in a family of yachtsmen and began sailing at the same time as his first steps in life.

His parents: father Tekuchev Valery Germanovich Master of Sports in sailing. Participant and prize winner of many Soviet and Russian competitions. Mother Tekucheva Nadezhda Aleksandrovna librarian.

He has participated in sailing competitions in Russia on numerous occasions: the Arctic Voyage (Barents Sea), the Solovetsky Regatta (White Sea), and regattas on the Baltic, Volga, and in the Moscow region. On a 7-meter yacht, he sailed through locks, canals, and inland waterways from Moscow to the Solovetsky Islands and back three times (2003, 2004, 2005). Together with his friends, in 2007 he built a wooden centerboard boat with a gaff sail rig, similar to the American fishing centerboard boats of the 19th century. For sailing along the Russian GDP Instructor of the international IYT and ISSA systems since 2012.

Every year from 2013 to 2015 he took part in the Thousand Islands and corporate regattas in Croatia; Marmaris International Race Week and Gocek Race Week in Turkey, Rodos Cup in Greece and others. Prize-winner of international regattas

In 2014, he crossed the Atlantic on a sailing catamaran as part of the famous international transatlantic rally ARC, taking 7th place in the division. In the spring of 2015, in difficult weather conditions of early April, with a crew of two, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean back to Europe, calling at Bermuda and the Azores. In 2020 (March-April), he sailed as a captain with a crew of 5 on the Lagoon 440 catamaran along the route Montenegro — Greece — Egypt — Djibouti — Sudan — Egypt — Turkey 8,000 nautical miles. In 2021 (January-October), on the yacht “Slavyanka” as part of the crew, he passed the route: about. Sicily — Gibraltar — Panama — Hawaiian Islands — Vladivostok. 20,000 nautical miles In 2023 (July — September) worked as a captain on the RUSARC steel sailing yacht “Aurora” in western Greenland.

He began his professional career in yachting with training at Oleg Goncharenko’s yacht school in Montenegro in 2011.
